Why should you stop using over the counter treatments on head lice? Check out this article in support of the comb out method. Just think: Why would you wait to see IF a product will kill the lice and eggs when removing them is proof that they are gone?

Tip of the day: It is a good idea to be familiar with the lifecycle of a louse. It will help you better understand your child's lice infestation.

Durham Lice Care

Durham Lice Care has a high success rate because we evaluate the stage of infestation, physically "nit-pick" the active lice and eggs from the head and provide treatment to condition the scalp and discourage immediate re-infestation.  Manuel removal of the lice is the only sure way to stop the parasites. This is done with non-toxic products such as shampoos and combs. Harsh chemicals are never part of Durham Lice Care's product ingredients. At-home lice removal products are also available through Durham Lice Care's website.

Head lice in Durham Region

Head lice in Durham Region is a sensitive issue that stops most anyone in their tracks, whether they’ve learned that they themselves have it, their children have it, a close friend, or perhaps hearing of a head lice breakout that could possibly set them at risk of getting it.

Relax!

Head lice isn’t as big of an issue as most people have made it out to be. Sure, they’re highly contagious- but that’s no different to having a bad cold. The only difference is head lice can be treated in one day by Durham Lice Care!
Head lice does not implicate poor hygiene- in fact- it’s the opposite. Lice prefer clean hair to greasier hair since the grease makes it difficult to move along the hair shaft (kind of like us trying to walk on an icy sidewalk)
If you are unsure or even if you know you or your children happen to have head lice, we at Durham Lice Care can help. We’re a professional head lice removal company located in Oshawa. All of our staff are highly trained in lice detection, lice treatment, lice prevention and lice education. Best of all our treatment is guaranteed. Our manual strand-by-strand approach sets us apart from all the other head lice treatments currently on the market- plus we don’t use the harsh chemicals or pesticides that most of these products are overrun with.
Give us, Durham Lice Care a call today at (905)706-5013.

Tips for preventing head lice

Posted on November 11, 2012 at 8:49 AM Comments comments ()
What should parents know and do to prevent their child from getting head lice? Here are five important tips:
• Teach your child to avoid head-to-head contact. No sharing of brushes, combs, hats, hair accessories, scarves or towels.
• Keep your child’s hair as close to the head as possible in either a ponytail, braid or bun. Using hairsprays or gels also makes it harder for lice to infest.
• Spray your child’s hair daily with a natural lice repellent. These products are designed specifically to repel lice with scents such as mint.
• Perform a weekly head check for lice and nits (eggs).
• Each child should have their own helmet for sporting activities.
